Calling all creatives! Help us re-imagine unused space at the iconic Villa Hotel, a major entertainment venue back in its 1950s heyday. Now home to The Villa at San Mateo, we’re inviting community members to participate in The Villa Challenge competition to redesign space that supports aging in place.

Spaces included in the challenge were at one time culinary, banquet and entertainment venues, many of which community members recognize from events they attended at this very location. These spaces sit waiting for a special return to productive use at our vibrant, 55-plus independent living community.

Participants in The Villa Challenge are encouraged to bring boundary-breaking creativity to the competition. Proposals don’t require care services specific to older adults but should be aligned with Elder Care Alliance’s mission and vision. An element of the proposal should also advance inclusion of older adults, while complementing the current living environment at The Villa at San Mateo.
